Customer Service / Front Desk

All hotel toshi employees started out as interns.  We do not hire for permanent positions unless the candidate has been successful as an intern.  hotel toshi is growing quickly – we had just 2 apartments in March 2008 and we currently have 90 apartments today (November 2009). 

We request that all applicants be able to commit to at least a 3 month internship, with at least 25 hours or 2 days per week.  We prefer to schedule interns for longer shifts over fewer days than to have fewer hours over more days. 

COMPENSATION:

Full-time:  The internship itself is unpaid, however you will be provided with 1 bedroom in a fully furnished 2-3 bedroom apartment shared with other hotel toshi interns.  This includes wireless internet, cable tv, heat/hot water, electricity, and gas.  You will also be provided with meals during the days that you are working. 

Part-time:  You will be compensated at an hourly rate and you meals will be provided during the days that you work.

CUSTOMER SERVICE/FRONT DESK

Job Description:
we are looking for a strong "workhorse" type individual with great organizational and interpersonal skills to assist with the daily operations of hotel toshi. we are an organization that is purposefully structurally lean so this person must be a fast, efficient, and hard worker. we are a hotel business open practically 24/7 so we work long hours and weekends for a total of 65+ hours per week.  We will work around your class schedule – you must be available at least 3 full days of the week for a minimum of 25 hours. 

Responsibilities:
+ respond quickly to customer inquiries over the phone
+ check in clients upon arrival
+ provide top notch customer service and hospitality
+ assist in the acquisition and set up of new apartments


Qualifications:
+ interest in entrepreneurship, real estate, or hotel businesses
+ superior customer service skills
+ must have a “thick skin”
+ must excel in a fast paced environment. must be a high energy individual willing to move around. this is the farthest thing from a desk job.
+ excellent communication skills, written and verbal
+ pleasant phone voice and comfortable on the phone
+ can and will do attitude. a "whatever it takes" personality.
+ clean, presentable, demeanor and manner
+ strong individual who can manage stress and diffuse difficult situations
+ entrepreneurial attitude and willingness to stay until the work is done
+ ability to juggle multiple tasks and follow up accordingly
+ basic excel, outlook, entourage
+ must be extremely organized and have superior follow-up skills
+ solution and goal driven
+ self-motivated with a strong sense of personal accountability

the following are highly valuated, but not required:

+ ability to speak another language (French, Spanish)

QUALITY CONTROL

 

Job Description:
hotel toshi, inc. was founded in March 2008 with 1 apartment.  Today, we have over 80 fully furnished short term apartments in all neighborhoods of Manhattan and Brooklyn and acquire an average of 2 apartments per week.  We do everything in house – from photography, cleaning, reservations, to the interior design of each apartment.  We are looking for a strong individual with great organizational and interpersonal skills to assist with the growth and daily operations of hotel toshi.  This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to learn how to start, grow, and scale a corporation.

Responsibilities:
+ optimize toshi customer experience by ensuring apartments are of toshi standards
+ manage daily staff cleaning schedule (our apartments are spread out over 5 neighborhoods of NYC in 15 different buildings so the ability to efficiently schedule is vital)
+ provide top notch customer service and hospitality
+ troubleshoot / install wireless internet routers
+ order and replenish household items
+ manage cleaning staff to ensure consistent toshi quality service and product to clientele
